Vintage Hippie Truck
Remember these? Don't see many around anymore. The ol' vintage hippie pickup truck. It is a far cry from my Dodge Ram 3/4 ton diesel, boat towing machine. But then again my hippie days are long since past. Found this in my parking garage. Looks like someone's project and it must run as it just showed up one day.

Racked and ready...
All dressed up and ready to go. Just like a group of school kids lined up before recess. Only moments later does chaos take over and there is no telling what happens and where they go... (at least with my cue stick talents). Savor the moment. It does not last long. All racked and ready...

Wash Basin
Now here's a wash basin I can really get my hands into... Not that it makes a fantastic image but I could not pass this one up. You certainly don't see this every day--unless you work at the restaurant where I found it. And, if you look really, really close into the end of the water spout you can also see a self portrait of the photographer. Ha! Now back to the chips and salsa.....

Cymbal Sunrise
Today's image reminds me of the place where all cymbals are born. I really don't know where that is but this looks to me to be a place it could be. A new day...? The sunshine breaking through, giving light to all the newborn cymbals...?
Actually, I rather miss the sunshine lately. As this morning it is snowing heavily outside--wintertime in the Rockies.
Okay, I know, to you that are unimaginative this is just a picture of the table top in the break-room reflecting an overhead ceiling light. You folks are so boring....

Happy Birthday Stacey
The office cheer committee has been at it again. This time they attacked the front lobby with their ninja decorating skills creating the not-so subtle message to every one entering the building that it was the birthday of Stacey, our receptionist. This image of one small corner of the ceiling does not do justice to half of the lobby that was completely redecorated in birthday celebration motif. I think the message was communicated....Happy Birthday Stacey.

Big Pipes
I walk past these big water pipes several times each day in my office building. After months and months of ignoring the common place, every day scene, one day I paused, open my eyes and began to see that even the obvious can turn in to something amazing. Lesson for me: open my eyes and look for the beauty everywhere. It often lurks right before my very eyes.

Bring your own sunshine
You know them. Everyone knows a few of them. The ones that enter a room and brighten up the entire place upon there arrival. Regardless of the mood, the place or the people already present, when one of these people walks in everyone feels it. They are happy, cheerful, enthusiastic, personable, friendly, optimistic, likable, down-to-earth, authentic, interesting, interested, ....... the list goes on and on. You can add you own descriptions. You know one of these types and maybe even a few of them, don't you? They are the ones that bring their own sunshine wherever they go. Do you ever bring your own sunshine?

Guarding the chips
Times can be tough. Tough enough that this sandwich shop needed to post a guard to protect their FritoLay chips stacked in the back room. After all guns protect our politicians, our politicians' families, our famous people, our money, our airport security, our jewelry, oh pretty much everything and everybody except our children, so why not our chips too......

Just the beginning...
After 34 years, five kidlets, six grandchildren I have certainly come to realize just how naive we were when we crossed that initial threshold. We were then so in love, so captured by each other, so sure that life would come happily ever after and things could not get any better. Boy were we ever naive. That day was just the beginning...

Red Alert
Alarms are created and installed to provide us warnings when danger is nearby. This image brings back some old memories that thoroughly date me. I recall the robot on the TV series Lost in Space running around wildly exclaiming "Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!"
Are alarms going off anywhere in your life? Are you listening? Are you taking the appropriate evasive action?

Standing Tall
Continuing in the amaryllis series. This one shows the whole plant although, because of the high vantage point used, it is hard to tell that it stands over 2 feet tall. There is a little second stem that has begun to grow at the bottom. It has a marvelous mentor standing tall as its example. We keep this amaryllis on a table in with the blossoms in front of a mirror which gives us a complete front and back view of this gorgeous thing every time we walk by a look at it standing tall in all its glory.

Blossoms Bursting in Air
This one reminds me of our national anthem and the line "the bombs bursting in air".... Except that here it is "the blossoms bursting in air".... These blossoms opened so suddenly after we patiently watched the bulb sprout and grow that they literally did burst open in their majestic beauty.

Open Wide
It is a Christmas tradition that one of our good neighbors gives us a potted amaryllis bulb each year. We never seem to be able to make each one last for a year but each year he gives us a new one. My January 1st blog post shows the bulb just beginning to sprout. In my February 1st blog post you can see the blossoms about ready to burst open. The stem is now over two feet tall and the four blossoms opened up a couple of days ago in all their gorgeous splendor. They make for great photo opps and will be the subject of my blog posts for the next few days. This one is entitled Open Wide....

Miracle of birth
This image of the birth of our amarylliss blossom reminds me of the true miracle of birth. I have witnessed the actual birth event of each of our five wonderful children. Upon reflection, I cannot think of any greater miracle of which I have been a part. For me, this is especially true--the birth that comes to the very participants in the creative process.
The birth of these blossoms is another miracle. I am grateful for the pause and reflection it has encouraged in my own life. What miracles have you witnessed today?
