Eat more chicken

No, it is not Chick-Fil-A.  This is the "other" chicken fast food joint.  Yep, it had to do tonight, on New Year's Eve.  We had a busy day house hunting all day, did not get any lunch and ended up at Texas Roadhouse where the wait for dinner was over an hour long.  Needless to say, we left that place and ended up getting some fast food chicken at a nearby Zaxby's.  Then we topped off the fast food dinner with some ice cream.  Guess we will call it a night for this New Year's Eve.

2014 draws to a close and my daily photo postings will also end.  After almost 3 years now (since March 27, 2012 I have been doing the daily posting) it has become just too hectic in life to keep up the daily commitment.  I will move to regular postings--without defining exactly what "regular" means.  So stay tuned.....

Night on the town

Gotta love the holiday season and especially sharing it with those you love.  We spent the evening a the Reston Town Center ice skating rink with a couple of grandkids.  There is something magical about skating around and holding hands with a couple of young ladies and hearing the refrain, "THIS IS AWESOME!"  Yep, this night on the town was one to remember...

Miss Manners

Grandkids are the best.  When hungry they go for what works--just eat.  And when it comes to a freshly baked turkey, the drumsticks are the go to piece for a hand-to-mouth frenzy.  Can't blame her--the turkey was great and we all were hungry.

Busy Day

Hmmmm, what to do on the day after Christmas?  I know, let's go to the mall like everyone else.  And not just any mall.  Let's go to the mall at Tyson's Corner in Virginia where the crowds will be so large it will take a miracle just to find a parking place and then let's go mingle with everyone else within 100 miles....just because they will all be at the mall too.  Okay, let's do it just because it's on my bucket list (really?).  No, let's do it because the grandkids need to spend their gift card money at The American Girl Doll store--and we are adventure seekers at heart anyway...

I moved into new office space recently.  The window next to the door has blinds on it.  This view is just a photo of those blinds.  I turned the final image around--to me it now looks a bit like an arrow pointing to the upper left--if I stare at it long enough.  So I call this one One Way.

Columbia, SC LDS Temple

Quiet Sunday afternoon alone in the new city.  What better thing to do than to go visit old friends?  So I hop in the car and drive up to Columbia, South Carolina to first, see the temple there of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and second, to drop in on old friends.  So I drop in on the family that I home taught for years before they move to the South.  Now, in an ironic turn of events, I am actually moving more South than they did.  Nice to see folks from the old neighborhood.

Tree tunnels

Okay, for all the driving I have done since being in Georgia, I still have not seen much of the countryside.  Everywhere you go it is like being in a tree tunnel  Trees lining the road on both sides and all you can see are trees and more trees.  Sure, when you get into the city things open up and you can see businesses, billboards, etc.   But everywhere else the countryside remains hidden on the other side of the tree tunnels.

Driving the highway.  Stopped for gas, a leg stretch, a bladder break and looking for some refreshment--took this Pepsi image because the water bottles were not nearly as colorful.  Cheers.

Fallen

These petals have fallen directly down into the vase or maybe the previous patron just picked them up off the table and put them into the vase.  After all this is a popular place.  I am eating dinner at Chick-Fil-A and while eating my oreo milkshake and waiting for my grilled chicken sandwich to be delivered to the table, I pull out my iPhone camera and compose a shot of this flower vase.  Just over exposing the table top results in turning it into a plain white background and I have my photo for the day.  Whew!  I was getting a bit nervous as it is already dark and at the end of a long day.  But the best camera is the one I have with me all the time so these fallen petals saved my photo day.
